Dubrovnik Weather

When deciding on where to go for your next vacation, weather always plays a big factor. Most people want to spend their holiday in a warm place full of beaches and lots of sun. Dubrovnik in the summer is just that place. Dubrovnik has a typical Mediterrean climate with four distinct seasons. Here are a few facts about the different times of year in Dubrovnik. Hopefully, this will help you decide which month would be best for you to book your Dubrovnik vacation rental.

Spring:  This time of year is truly beautiful. By mid March the plants and flowers begin to bloom and everything comes to life again. The temperatures can vary from 15 to 27 degrees with occasional rain. The locals come out of hibernation during this time and prepare for the onslaught of visitors. The town and everything around it comes alive and it is a lovely site to see. Occasionally in April, you may see a few people swimming and sunbathing on the beach.  This is also the time when all of the yellow flowers appear and cover the hills in a rich golden hue. If you are looking for a quieter vacation where you aren't bumping into tons of other tourists than spring might be the right time for you. You can enjoy the sites and still get plenty of sun while on your vacation in Dubrovnik.

Summer:  Summer officailly arrives June 21st and the temperatures vary from low 20's to upper 30's.  The weather is lovely in June, but can occassonally be quite humid. June and into mid July there is a breeze that clears the air and makes the days and nights very nice. By August though, it becomes quite humid and can be extremely warm. August's saving grace is the rains that come in and clear the hot air. It usually rains for an hour or two then clears and makes the air clean and fresh. The Adriatic Sea can range from 23 to 27 degrees in the summer. One can practically live in the sea during the summer time. There are plenty of water activities to do during these months that can really make your vacation in Dubrovnik even more fun!

Fall: Fall is actually the favorite time of year for all the local people. The temperatures start to cool but it's still warm enough to swim in the sea, enjoy a lovely dinner outside, or take a leasurally walk around Dubrovnik. It is a quieter time of the year as many of the tourists have left. The town is still alive but things start winding down. There is still plenty to do if you decide to spend your vacation in Dubrovnik in the Fall. You can enjoy the sights and sounds of the region without the crowds. The weather tends to be in the 20s during the fall season with light rain throughout the fall months. The leaves starts to change color and fall to the ground. It's beautiful site to see and could be the perfect time of year to spend your Dubrovnik vacation.

Winter: Winters here are quite cold. Dubrovnik can get a lot of rain especially in January and February. The town and all the locals close up shop and there isn't a whole lot to do during the winter time. There are a few occasions when the locals come out of hibernation to celebrate and that is for Christmas, New Year's Eve, Dubrovnik's patron saint day on February 3rd, and Mardi Gras. If you want to make Dubrovnik a desination during the winter months, I would suggest you come during those occasions. Mostly, the winter months are spent inside sitting around the fire. Local people use this time to spend with family and friends cooking up wonderful winter dishes such as smoked meat and cabbage and drinking the wine that they have made during the fall.

All of the seasons of Dubrovnik are quite unique and wonderful.  No matter what time of year you decide to spend you vacation in Dubrovnik, you will be pleasantly surprised by it's beauty. Book your holiday rental in Dubrovnik and see the beauty of this amazing city for yourself!
